The grueling and exciting Manila Millions 2013 finally ended last night at around 930pm. The record setting Manila Millions started with 18 elite poker players each putting up HKD$1,000,000, the biggest buy-in tournament ever held in Asia.
From among the 18 elite poker players, including PokerAce Pros Joe Hachem, JC Tran and Nam Le as well as Phil Ivey, John Juanda, Jonny Chan and many more, Manila Millions Poker 2013 Winner is Joseph Cheong of USA. He won a total of HK$10,428.00.
Right after pictures from media I was able to get a quick interview with the 25 year old Joseph Cheong. He was born in Seoul, Korea, moved to La Mirada, California, USA when he was about six or seven. He earned two degrees at the University of California at San Diego, a B.S. in psychology and a B.A. in a double concentration, mathematics and economics. He started playing poker, primarily online poker when he cannot find a 9-to-5 job. He even told me, it was a blessing in disguise that he was not able to land a job because this got him this far in poker tournament. He has no girlfriend at present. When asked what's he's going to do with his winnings, he joyfully said, "I'll use it to play poker again!". With that said, see you again next time, Joseph Cheong, for the next big poker tournament.
