Infracyte Transformation System Product Review

Whenever I'm given a beauty product for the face I usually give it to my elder sister, step-mom, aunts or to my friends who are years older than me.  I was practically happy with my skin that I only use soap for my face. As I turned 40 last year, I noticed spots are coming out from both of my cheek bones, uneven skin from the forehead and pimples pops out every now and then.

Infracyte was introduced to me last July 17 by its representatives.  They came at the right time when signs of aging are visible on my face. That night, I used Infracyte Transformation System. Exactly two months today, I can go out without putting concealer to hide stubborn lines and spots.

This product is available only thru dermatologists. The set costs P8,500 for normal skin, and P9,000 for oily skin.

ABOUT INFRACYTE

As years go by, regardless of lifestyle, your skin begins to change. Signs of aging will appear. Fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, and loss of elasticity become more visible. These signs can be the result of collagen breakdown, slower cell-turnover, and loss of moisture. Damage is intensified by sun exposure, stress, environmental assaults and smoking.

Now there is a professional skin transformation program that helps to increase tolerance to environmental factors and diminish the visible signs of aging. It is designed by qualified dermatologists  and chemists. It is clinically proven to help correct and improve skin damage due to many factors: uneven skin tone, sun damage, acne, pores and loss of elasticity due to fine lines and wrinkles.

Infracyte Transformation Program is the key combination of repairing, exfoliating and lightening of the skin. Tumbang Preso "In the Can"

There are three major reasons why I'm watching the film Tumbang Preso "In the Can" on October 8, 2014 at Megamall Cinema.  First, to help fight human trafficking. Second, the award-winning actress Jacklyn Jose, one of my favorite actress, played a special role in the film. Last but certainly the most important reason, my friend Star Orjaliza plays one of the major roles in the movie.

The suspense movie is based on true story of a 14-year old boy's daring attempt to escape slavery in a sardines factory, of human trafficking and survival.

Synopsis:

Carlo and his younger female cousin were promised restaurant work with a scholarship in Manila but ended up as slaves in a sardines factory. Children’s hands are small so they fit well into the can. He devised a plan, navigated around the place and culminated in a dangerous plan to escape where life and freedom are in the balance.

Starring: Kean Cipriano, Teri Malvar, Ronnie Lazaro, Dominic Roco , Star Orjaliza, Kerbie Zamora Ron Cieno and Ms. Jaclyn Jose. With the special participation of Shamaine Buencamino. Introducing Kokoy de Santos

Benefits of Carrot Juice

Carrot is one of my favorite vegetable. Aside from malunggay, I always have a steady supply of carrots in my kitchen because I mix it with my favorite dishes like afritada, chicken curry, macaroni soup, spaghetti, lasagna and more.

I take at least one tall glass of carrot juice each day for it helps burn fat and increase metabolism. For those who like to trim down and have glowing and beautiful skin, you've go to start liking Bugs Bunny's favorite veggie.  Not only that, carrot juice increases hair growth, increases nail strength, prevents acne, fights ageing, help reduce sunburn and also increase the skin’s resistance towards sun damage. Potassium present in carrot juice helps reduce skin dryness and reduces scars and blemishes. It also gives life to your skin by improving the skin tone. It will also help improve hydration and thus keep your skin moisturized.

Here are the other benefits of carrot juice:

1. Good source of beta-carotene, which is associated with a lower risk of colon cancer.
2. It helps treat and prevent diseases and helps improve vision.
3. Improves immunity
4. Controls heart diseases
5. Helps to heal wounds and keeps the gums healthy.
6. Vitamin K present in carrot juice is essential for the protein building process in the body.
7. Cleanses the liver, that keeps liver cancer away.
8. Carrot juice intake during pregnancy improves the quality of their breast milk.

Got no juicer? Problem solved! You just need a grater and clean hands to make your very own carrot juice. It's as easy as 1-2-3, even my kids can do it.

Step 1: Peel the carrots. Grate the carrots, using the finest hole for easy squeezing
and to get the maximum juice

Step 2: Squeeze the grated carrots. It's much better if you have a clean cloth.
Place the grated carrot in the cloth and squeeze.

This is a great bonding activity for kids, just make sure you supervise them,
especially when using the grater

I keep the sap as added ingredient for burger patties, pork omelet, spaghetti and lasagna

When in Makati

Wednesday is coding day - no car day.  If I have events to attend on a Wednesday, I take a cab. If I have errands to do, I'll push my 'tipid' mode button and ride public utility vehicles.

Last Wednesday's destination, the famous Makati City for its 2.1 billion parking by the Binays. Going to Makati has always been a  happy place for me because most of my friends' work there. I make the most of my time when in Makati by visiting my friends and paying bills.

From my place, I rode a jeep going to Makati but I didn't know which jeep to take going to Sun Life in Paseo. Buti na lang this nice young lady helped me find my way. Ivy is now my FB friend!

After paying my insurance I met Marty and Kooky at CoffeeBean,
Greenbelt for a very important heart-to-heart talk.

From Greenbelt, I didn't know how to get to Rada Street. Buti na lang mabait ang napagtanungan ko. Julliene and I walked together 'til I reached Ace Building.

From Rada, I had to ask Kuya Guard the way to Makati Med.

I surprised my friend, mare, ex-officemate - Madam Rosa, a.k.a. Rose, at Makati Med.

For my last stop, I never fail to visit Cel. Even if she's too busy
iniistobo ko sya kahit sandali lamang. We just have to talk 3 times faster nga lang
to catch up because she has only 5 minutes to spare.

Flawless All-Natural Ultimate White Facial

My husband is so comfortable with his looks. In short, he's not vain. When he was younger before we o go to a skin clinic but found it too taxing so he stopped and he'd rather stay home and read his novel books.

I was lucky enough to convince him and come with me at Flawless - Greenhills, after begging a couple of times, to try Flawless All-Natural Ultimate White Facial.

Since this our facial date, I asked a bed near each other (uy, sweet, hehehe!)

The All-Natural Ultimate White Facial is the country’s first facial treatment that uses a combination of natural exfoliators, antioxidants and whitening agents to lighten the skin and treat hyperpigmentations, photodamage and premature aging. The procedure is done for an hour and costs P1,600.

The All-Natural Ultimate White Facial makes use of two powerful ingredients that not only lighten and rejuvenate the skin but help improve its clarity and texture as well—Dunaliella Seaweed and Gigawhite. A unique alga endemic to the Dead Sea, Dunaliella Seaweed is known to contain almost every amino acid that exist in nature and is a powerful skin anti-aging tool, while Gigawhite is a safe skin lightening agent used as a natural alternative to hydroquinone, the world's currently reigning number one skin lightening active. Kojic Acid and Vitamin C is also used in this treatment to further boost its skin lightening and anti-aging effects.

John's hesitation to come with me at Flawless was replaced with satisfaction after the treatment because he saw noticeable improvements in his skin’s complexion after the session.  Here's why Flawless All-Natural Ultimate White Facial is a must try:

Step 1: Foaming or Cleansing
Step 2: A special lip balm to moisturize the lips
Step 3: Whitening activator oil for 3 minutes with light massage

Step 4: Scrub using whitening exfoliator

Hand massage is done as an added TLC

Warm compress for the hands, which is truly relaxing

Step 5: A special eye cream to protect the eyes

Step 5: Whitening Boosting Mask for 20 minutes
Step 6: Whitening Nourishing Crean

(Pricking is done after the mask but a client has an option to skip the
pricking procedure, like we did)

Bring your man, know more about the All-Natural Ultimate White Facial by dropping by any Flawless clinic, and have whiter, clearer and smother skin together.

Benefits of Grape Smoothie

$

Every time we dine out, my kids' choice of drink is grape smoothie. Depending on the restaurant, a glass of grape smoothie ranges from P150 to P300. Say for example, it is P280 in Heat at Edsa Shangri-La Hotel and P190 at California Pizza Kitchen (VAT and other taxes included).

For 'tipid' mode 101 (to save), here's what I do at home..

Step 1: Buy half a kilo of seedless grapes (around P200)

 Step 2: Freeze it overnight

Step 3: Add a glass of water

Step 4: Blend

Out of P200 grapes I made 4 servings. Next time dadagdagan ko pa ng 1/4 kasi walang grape shake si husband. Para sa amin lang mag-iina ang kaya ng 1/2 kilo.

Benefits of Grape Smoothie

1.  Grapes provides a great dose of vitamin C as well as some other much needed antioxidants.
2. A good source of  Resveratrol – is an antioxidant found in grapes (especially red) that aids in slowing down the aging process of important genes in the brain, heart and other muscles and organs.
3.  Helps Metabolism – grapes is a friendly dieting food due to the fact that they tend to have a light laxative effect on the metabolism.
4.  Low Calorie  and high in hydration, which help to improve the blood flow through the blood vessels; therefore, allowing more blood to flow to other areas of the body as well as increasing the oxygen levels that other cells need.

But  grapes have high sugar levels and can cause blood sugar levels to temporarily shoot. So diabetics have to be cautious, check with your doctor first.

Fashionable Friday: Scarf as Headdress

Audrey Hepburn is an epitome of class, elegance, and style. One of her famous style is by wearing headgear, which is also called headwear or headdress.

I like wearing my scarf around my head not for fashion but more because I do not like my hair to catch all the dust, dirt and smoke when I commute or ride public utility vehicles. I mostly use my scarf as headdress on Wednesday because I'm coding.

Little did I know that people I meet see me as fashionable by wearing this kind of headgear. When I tell them the real reason, they ooh and ahh and say "that's a great idea!".

Nice Ivy, whom I met when in Makati

Forgot her name, I hope she finds me in FB

Royal Caribbean Jamaican Patties

Yesterdays date with husband was in Fullybooked Bonifacio High Street to buy his novel books. Since we were at the Fort already, we went ahead and tried Royal Caribbean Jamaican Patties, located at the 5th floor of Market Market.

We arrived around 12 noon, basically we were famished and immediately bit our RC Jamaican Patties as soon as it was served. I was so hungry I completely forgot to take photos of all the flavors we've tried.

John ordered the following flavors, Beef Supreme, Beef Royale, Beef Jerky, Beef Granada and Beef Curry. Each of these flavors are sold at P45. John Said he liked Beef Curry and Beef Granada, but hoping that Granada be more spicy.

Since I love cheese, I ordered the following flavors, Cheese Burst Royale and Cheese Burst Supreme and Cheese Burst Jerky (each at P58).  The cheese they use tastes a lot like Chiz Whiz, which is a good thing for me since it's my favorite cheese spread since I was a young kid.

What I didn't like though is that the bread they used is a bit soggy. It would have been better if it's toasted well. Well, that's just me.

The drinks, I must say is irresistibly good at P58 only! John and I particularly like Red Raspberry Tea and Premium  Iced Tea.

There are three reasons why you should try Royal Caribbean Jamaican Patties? First, their patties are are a filling snack. Second. the drinks are reasonably priced. And third, the staff is very courteous and attentive.

It rained cats and dogs a few hours before the book launch of What Women Can Do When Life Falls Apart.  I had second thoughts of attending the event because the roads were flooded. Plus, my date for the night, my daughter Julia, fell asleep.  But my heart and mind told me to go, so after cooking dinner, I ran as fast as I could.

I was so excited and happy that when I reached OMF Lit - Boni, I asked one of the women, "is she there, is she there?". I didn't know I was already talking to the author - Ms. Luisa Reyes-Ampil.

Fight Depression

It's 3:09 in the morning. My chinky eyes are wide-open. I can't sleep. I've just finished chatting with a friend. I'm concerned. She's having depression. I call depression D. I know the feeling when D hits. I feel it every now and then. I don't welcome D but it pops like a thief at night. Maybe it comes with age. Studies say that women between 40 to 60 manifests some, if not all, forms of depression. Others feel depress because of their unhappy situation they are in. Mine is different. I have a happy life, great husband and kids. My depression is caused by hormonal imbalance due to thyroid problem.

My first battle with depression was in 2000. John and I were recently married. I didn't know back then that I have hormonal imbalance. I was feeling sick and was thinking I have diabetes. I was confined at Makati Medical Center for 4 days. The doctor said, I'm alright. That all tests are normal. Dr. Litonjua even joked to John, "e gusto ka lang ata masolo!".  We didn't know it was already depression. The doctor didn't know either.

My second battle with depression was in 2001. I was crying for no reason. Got mad easily. I took around 2 sleeping tablets. I didn't want to wake up. Had series of lab tests, then I was diagnosed with hormonal imbalance.

My third battle with depression was in 2002. I recently gave birth to the twins. They were about 2 months. I was basically happy having the twins since we waited to have kids for years. One day, hormonal imbalance kicked in and caused me to have depression big time! I took more than 5 sleeping feels,. I can't remember the exact number. I locked myself inside the room. John and the nannies were worried for I didn't eat for 2 straight days. I'm lucky to have a supportive and understanding spouse who understand my case.

I've battled 3 major moments with depression. Nothing of that scence any more but from time to time, I feel that D wants to take over again. I fight depression before it can ruin my joyful life. Here's how...

1. I have a routine. I clean our two bathrooms. Kaya ang banyo namin ang pinakamalinis na parte ng bahay. Kung pwede nga lang pati bathroom ng kapitbahay lilinisin ko din, hehehe!

2. I exercise. Exercise boosts feel-good chemicals called endorphins. Syempre dahil depress, ang hirap ibangon ng sarili para mag ehersisyo but I tell myself, "exercise na, tanggal depression na, se-sexy ka pa!"

3. I eat lots of fruits, vegetables and health  foods like those rich with omega-3 fatty acids. Ang sarap kaya ng crabstick sandwich at tuna pandesal ko!

4. I window shop for clothes. Walking along the air-conditioned lobby of malls makes depression vanish.  At nag burn pa ko ng calories, which in turn makes me sexy! Plus, I get ideas on how to mix and match my clothes.

5.  I visit friends and people I love. Drop by their homes or offices. Bring them foods (parang Vhong Navarro lang!), coffee, an apple or two. Pag walang budget, dinadaldal ko lang sila. Talking burns calories. Sesexy ka dun.

6. I sleep a lot. At dahil tulog ako ng tulog, di hindi ako nakakain. Sumeksi na naman ako!

Wala ako sa picture, sa ilalim ako ng kama natutulog, hehehe.

7.  I take husband's responsibilities. We send and pick up our kids to school. My husband drives while I'm the navigator. When depression starts to kick in, I drive and ask John to stay home, relax and enjoy his collection. Happy husband na, nag burn na naman ako ng calories sa pag drive. Papa sexy na ng papa sexy!

8. I do volunteer works and outreach activities. Doing something for someone lifts my soul, my spirit.

9. I do arts and crafts with my children. Naalis na ang inis, nakagawa pa ng mga bagay na di na kailangan pang bilhin. Nakatipid!

11. I send gifts to random people.

12. I watch funny movies and shows like Eat Bulaga,

13. I tell jokes, even if my kids and husband, say I'm corny.

14. I blog. Hoping to make a reader or two smile and help alleviate their own depressive mood.

15. I do pleasurable activities with my husband like facial treatments and massages. At yung huli di ko na sasabihin kasi Rated SPG (Maaaring may maseselang tema na hindi angkop sa mga batang nagbabasa ng blog na ito).

You see, we all have problems. Iba iba nga lang ang gravity. But you have a choice. It all depends on you, whether you want to stay in that depressing state or not. There's a lot you can do on your own to fight back depression. Do not allow depression to strip away the structure happiness from your life. If the above mentioned activities does not appeal to you, find something that will help you relax. If everything seems black and nothing seems to go right, talk to a friend or better go ahead and be not ashamed to seek medical attention.

If you know someone who's battling depression, help and intervene. Depression can lead to suicide as what happened to comedian, Robin Williams.

Benefits of Calamansi

Calamansi, known as Calamondin in other countries, is a sour fruit that resembles a small mandarin. This fruit is indigenous to the Philippines.

Mama-in-law gives us plenty of calamansi everyday. So as not to waste a single calamansi,my husband makes calamansi juice.

Ingredients: 1 liter of water, honey, a lot of calamasi. Use brown sugar as a substitute if you're not into honey.

With the help of a blender, the juice comes out perfectly good and refreshing!
If you don't own a blender, place it in a shaker, shake vigorously to blend all the ingredients well.

As a dutiful wife (hehehe) I clean the mess when John 's done and I make sure that nothing is wasted.

Calamansi is known to lighten darkened skin like elbows and knees, so I scrub those parts (and those hidden like armpits and singit) before throwing everything in the pan.

Yes, you read it right -  I throw the skin in the pan. I boil it for my calamansi bath soak.

Study shows that calamansi can visibly whiten the skin if you use it twice a day. John and I do calamasi bath soak at least once a week. It does not only whiten our skin, it gives us that important husband and wife bonding. Of course we do this when the kids are in school!

Fill the tub and pur the boiled calamansi before soaking

The calamasi saga doesn't end after enjoying at the bath tub. I planted the seeds and the rest of the skin, hoping that I'll be able to grow my very own calamsi tree.

Other benefits of calamansi:

1. It is a natural ingredient for fading acne scars. The acidity and the vitamin C are the main factors responsible in helping fade acne scars & lighten dark spots. There is a stinging sensation though when applied on the face so be very careful. Ask your doctor first if you have bad case of acne. TRY THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK

2. Due to its good dose of vitamin C, drinking calamansi juice helps prevent tooth decay, bleeding gums and will help strengthen teeth.

3. Besides skin lightening, my kumareng Jingle uses this citrus fruit as a deodorizer. Calamansi when used will prevent your armpits from perspiring and will also help keep it odor-free.

4.  Enhances hair growth and eliminate itchiness of the scalp.

5. Drinking calamansi juice on a regular basis also helps keep your kidneys healthy

6. It is a good tonic for the liver.

7. Calamansi juice is a good marinade for meat like poultry, pork and beef.

8. Calamansi juice helps eliminate the bad smell of fish.

9.  Calamansi can also be used as a stain remover for clothes.

10. After making juice, I used the rest for the skin to clean my oven and sink. It takes away the grease easily.

Isis Wellness and Spa Review

Time flies fast when you're having fun. This is what happened to me at Isis Wellness Spa.  I arrived 15 minutes earlier from the schedule. Upon opening the door, it felt like home. The picturesque place is suitable for my much needed rest and relaxation. The range of colors used from the reception, waiting area, massage rooms, restroom and shower room are well put together. When I asked the owners about the names of their architect and interior designer, I was amazed to know they designed the place themselves.

Most of the decors they have at Isis are souvenirs they bought  from their travels abroad.

Although there are only 4 massage rooms, one need not worry about the noise and privacy because each room can be divided using an accordion type solid door.

If you frequent this blog, you know how particular I am when it comes to bathrooms, as well as shower rooms. Oh how I love Isis because they remind me of my own bathrooms, having the same tiles, though with a different shade.

Meeting the owners, Chef Didier Derouet and his wife Merna was absolutely fun, as well as informative. Although I've met Merna a year ago, it's totally a different thing when you meet the couple at the same time. The talk becomes more explosive, as you get a lot of ideas from husband and wife tandem. It's easy to understand why at Isis you'll get a unique and quality service because Chef Didier worked as an executive chef with many five star hotels here and abroad. Merna used to work as a therapist at Hyatt, in Dubai. While Chef takes care of the needs of the tummy (yes, he personally cooks the food they serve for their clients), Merna, on the other hand, see to it that all their therapist are well-trained.

The welcome drink is truly a welcome treat. This one deserves a post of its own on my next article! I'm a spa addict so I'm used to drinking the usual - powdered iced tea or powdered lemon. If you're lucky, a fruit infused water will be served. In Isis, you'll get to taste Chef Didier's welcome drink. I will not tell you now. Go and visit Isis and Chef Didier will be most happy to tell you the secret about this secret drink. All I can say right now, I wanted to bring home the whole bottle! Seriously, I wanted to because it has all the ingredients that I want in a drink.

Let's get down to business. I'm the kind of person who's very active. During spa treatment, I do not sleep because I easily get distracted with the noise. At the beginning of my conversation with the couple, I told them that I don't sleep that much, so Chef Didier said, "you have to try our Lavender oil". In my mind, I knew that their Lavender oil is no different from all the lavender oils I bought from different spas. By the way, Isis have 40 kinds of oil that will suit the need of their clients.

This is the only photo I can remember. The next thing I know, Missy, the therapist, was telling me, "Ma'am facial na po tayo". I replied with a question, "are you sure? What time is it? Nakailang oras na tayo?". Admittedly, I was wrong to think that their oil and their massage is just the same as the other spas for I fell asleep.

You shouldn't miss the facial when you book at Isis. They use Pevonia products. Pevonia Botanica offers a complete range of natural, organic skin care products for your use at spa treatments through luxury spas around the world. Yes, only fine hotels uses Pevonia. And yes, they charge THAT MUCH because of Pevonia. At Isis, you get to be treated with the same luxurious service and products at a price affordable by middle income individual.

After the treatment you will be offered a first class tea.

I've already mentioned many positive notes about Isis. There's one thing I didn't like at Isis...

...the foods are to die for! It ruined my diet! (wink, wink). As of this writing, I can still, smell and taste the goodness of the salmon, the tender beef, those vegetables, dips, tea, the secret welcome drink and the wine!

These and more  are available when you book a package for small...
